Contamination and Wear Service Life of Duralox Mill Linings
Mill Lining Brick Sizes
From experience we find that lining replacement is pretty expensive considering the mill downtime, loss of production and cost of lining installation. We recommend our customers to carefully select thickness of lining bricks which can give longer service life based on the output production from the mill. Recommended thickness of Duralox lining bricks :
1. Brick (H) thickness - 25mm for 300 to 750 mm ID mills.
2. Brick (H) thickness - 40 mm for 750 to 1200 mm ID mills.
3. Brick (H) thickness - 50 mm for 1200 to 1800 mm ID mills.
4. Brick (H) thickness - 65 mm for 1800 to 2700 mm ID size mills.
5. Brick (H) thickness - 75 mm for 2700 mm and above ID size mills.
Above brick linings are recommended, however considering other parameters and experience, it is customer's individual choice to select bricks of suitable thickness. Dimensional Tolerances ± 0.5 mm or 2% whichever is greater. Bow Allowance maximum 0.5% of length.
Duralox lining bricks are free from voids, air pockets and hair line cracks as generally observed in ceramic lining bricks which are produced by wet pressing or extrusion process.

Calculations Of Lining For Cylindrical Mill
To calculate lining for a cylindrical mill (flanges are lined first and feed door openings are not considered)
Formulae to be used are:
1. Straight bricks for flanges

where : N1 = Number of straight bricks.  
  a1 = Length of straight brick in cms.  
  b1 = Width of straight brick in cms.  
  D = Internal dia of mill in cms.  
2. Tapered bricks for cylindrical face

where :    
  N2 = Number of tapered bricks.  
  a2 = Length of tapered brick in cms.  
  b2 = Width of tapered brick in cms.  
  D = Internal dia of mill in cms.  
  L = Internal length of the mill after lining in cms.  
Example :- To calculate number of bricks required for Dia 6' x 6' Long (Dia 180 cm x 180 cm L )
cylindrical ball mill (flanges are lined first)
Here a1 = a2 = 150 mm = 15 cm
b1 = b2 = 50 mm = 5 cm
D = 180 cm
L = 170 cm
Therefore

1.5715 x 180 x 180

15 x 5
= 679 No.s
